Classes to choose

The programme consists of a mix of academic classes (with ECTS-credits) taught by the University of Southern Denmark and different classes taught by teachers from the Højskole plus external lecturers. 

During the first week at the school, you will choose which classes to follow for your stay at Jaruplund - you will have a total of four different classes during the week; the academic classes and three other: Subject A, Subject B, and Subject C; in each subject, you can choose between 4-5 different classes.

Compulsory classes for all

Several times during the week, all the students gather to have classes together - we call these joint classes. These vary in form and content; speeches, short speaks, and lectures - and longer workshops on fx political or social issues with debates and discussion, combined with workshops in arts, music, history, and lots more. Your own time

And then there’s all the other stuff, that’s really hard to describe - but it’s probably going to be what you remember the most afterwards: What you do with the other students on your own time. Maybe you will form a group to discuss serious matters? Perhaps the group will do improv-theatre? Maybe you will just go for a walk around the lake, a bike ride to Flensburg, or maybe you meet a group of friends you just want to hang out with?

And parties, don’t forget the parties. Get together with a few other people and arrange the next party. Let it have a theme, maybe some costumes, get a DJ, open the bar (yes, we have a bar) - get going!

In other words: The time is yours. Do something about it.
